This week was a great display of the talent and leadership Brady Quinn has and the exact reason that he is going to win the Heisman over the other contenders this year. He showed a lot of poise to be able to bounce back from a sub-par performance in week one (based on Brady Quinn standards) and show that he can still lead the offense to put up a lot of points.
Last performance:
Quinn completed 25 of 36 passes for 287 yards and three TDs.
2006 Season Stats:
Passing: 543 YDS | 3 TD
Rushing: 26 YDS | 1 TD
0 INT | 65 CMP%
Here is a weekly update from Jim Donan on the Heisman candidates week 2 performances. He had this to say about Brady Quinn:
“In any discussion about the Heisman, Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn’s name is sure to appear. The Irish signal-caller struggled in the first half, but popped back up in the second half and was phenomenal. He distributed the ball nicely, with three different receivers scoring a touchdown apiece, and completed 25 of 36 passes for 287 yards. When Quinn is on, he can pick opposing teams apart.”
My Take
I believe that Brady Quinn has put himself back on top the Heisman race for this year. This will become more obvious in the next few weeks as Notre Dame continues to play solid teams both at home and on the road. Quinn will lead them to the wins in these games and start to pull away in the Heisman race.
