Notre Dame’s 2007 National Championship Season - Part 1

This is probably more meaningless than preseason rankings but I’m going to take a shot at it so I can be on the record in case it does happen… I want credit for this. :)

It going to be a much more difficult road to Tempe this year for the Irish and if they are going to do it, I think they can only (maybe) give up one game. BUT it has to be early and it would have to be close to one of the high profile teams like Penn State or Michigan.

Here is how I see the season shaping up:

Disclaimer: This is nothing but an educated guess by a Notre Dame fan so remember that while reading.  See the statement above about this being even more meaningless than preseason rankings.

Demetrius Jones: The Next Vince Young?

Okay, well maybe that is a bit of a prediction for a kid who hasn’t even practices at the college level yet but he is clearly the most similar style athlete and quarterback in this years recruiting class.

Demetrius_jones_1
He actually is one of the offensive recruits I am most excited about. He has something that could potentially add yet another dimension to Charlie Weis’ offensive.  An offensive that I would call the most unpredictable of 2005.  Add some speed with your quarterback and that blitzing that Ohio State did may become much less effective.  Heck it could have meant a Fiesta Bowl win?… Its not like they got blown out, they just couldn’t quite get anything going.

Here is what Randy Rodgers had to say about Demetrius on Rivals.com:

Jimmy Clausen: Junior of the Year

Jimmy_clausenIt is already obvious that there will be a lot of attention around Jimmy Clausen when National Signing Day comes around next year.  Why is that you ask?  Because he already has as much attention as the top prospects from this years class.

Just today, Rivals.com announced Jimmy Clausen as their pick for Junior of the Year.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to many as his personal quarterbacks coach said he’s the LeBron James of high school football.  Lets just hope he isn’t being overly hyped.

So why are they so caught up on this kid? Keep reading and I’ll tell you…

College Football National Signing Day

Some people don’t actually know when the National Signing Day for College Football recruiting is, so I decided to post it.

Toyota Comes To NASCAR In ‘07

Toyota_nascar
I know, I know, it sounds funny to have a international car company join in the most American of all racing, or all of sports for that matter.  But its true, starting in the 2007 season, Toyota will introduce the Camry to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.

Toyota is already in the NASCAR Craftsman truck series but for some reason they don’t seem to belong in the Busch or Cup series.  I don’t know why, it just doesn’t feel right. But nevertheless, Toyota is planning to move up to NASCAR’s
top two stock car series. However, not everybody is happy about it.

The Japanese automaker, which has competed in NASCAR’s Craftsman
Truck Series the past two seasons, announced Monday it will also
run its Camry brand in both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series in
2007.

Toyota will become the first foreign competitor in NASCAR’s top
series since Jaguar ran in several races in the 1950s.

Dial-up Networking with Palm Treo 650 & Bluetooth

Right now, I’m in the car on the way up to New York and I’m testing out the dial-up networking capabilities of my Palm Treo 650.  This is a great feature that allows you to connect to the Internet through your cell phone without ever hooking any cords up to it.

My laptop has bluetooth so all I had to do was configure it to connect with my Palm Treo 650 as a paired device.  This is much more convenient to do than having to connect a cord from my phone to my laptop everytime I want to connect.

Skiing This Weekend At Peek’n Peak

Trailmap_smallI’m going to be gone for a few days as I’ll be in New York state skiing.

It’s been about 3 years since I last skied so I’m going to have to dust the ole’ ski’s off.

We are going to a resort called Peek’n Peak. I’ve been there about 20 times before and I love going there.  They have a lot more variety of slopes than the boring ski resorts in Ohio. But nothing beats going out to Colorado or Utah… now thats real skiing.

The weather looks good right now.  They have had around 10 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours. But the current weather forecast on weather.com is showing that its supposed to warm up this weekend and possibly even rain. Now that would be just about enough to tick me off.

Karma Guide

I found this on the web site for "My Name Is Earl".  It is kind of funny and sums up this show in a few short paragraphs:

Karma Guide

As I go through life, fixing my mistakes one at a time, I’ve learned a
thing or two about Karma, and part of keeping good Karma is sharing it
with others. I hope these notions help you as much as they’ve helped
me.

Raeshon McNeil Is ALL Irish

I was able to confirm that even though Urban Myer invited an already Irish committed Raeshon McNeil down to the swamp to make a last ditch effor to steal him away, Urb has failed.

Scout.com reported yesterday that McNeil has confirmed that he is going to Notre Dame.

This is really annoying after Urban Liar publicy said it would be unethical for any coach to recruit
a committed player. Figures because that was when it was another coach
recruiting his players. After seeing some shady moves like this, I’m very glad that he chose to go to Florida.  Their standards and ethics fit him much better.  Charlie Weis has proved to be trustworthy and honest as a coach, a recruiter, and a person… a much better fit for Notre Dame.
